In 2018, a small group of activists in Boston initiated a movement to change the name of Faneuil Hall, an iconic Boston landmark built by Peter Faneuil.
Peter Faneuil was a slave owner and a slave trader. He was a white supremacist. His name should not be attached to a city-owned building.
Our movement to change the name of Faneuil Hall was launched as a reparations project. In 2022, the New Democracy Coalition led the effort that resulted in an official apology from Boston’s mayor and members of the Boston City Council.
We ask you to support us in our efforts toward changing the name of Faneuil Hall in the name of justice. In the name of reparations.
